EnSave recently collaborated with the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) to develop the report Energy Efficiency in New York State Agriculture: Summary of Energy Efficiency Programs and Research Opportunities. The report analyzed the current state of energy use and energy efficiency within New York State’s $5.4 billion agricultural sector. The report also highlighted underutilized measures within the state’s agricultural sector and recommended research priorities for emerging and underutilized energy efficiency technologies for agriculture. While NYSERDA’s Agriculture Energy Efficiency Program has been very successful, there is still plenty of opportunity for New York’s farmers to implement energy efficiency measures. There are also many emerging technologies that are not widely used in agriculture but are better established in other sectors, holding promising research opportunities to discover their applicability to agriculture.
